Dr. Mehmet Said KÖSE Amfory Opened with a Ceremony

Faculty of International Trade and Logistics Department Dr. Lecturer. “Dr. MEHMET SAID KÖSE AMFORY”, named after Mehmet Said Köse, who passed away on September 23, 2023 as a result of a sudden illness while working as a faculty member, was opened with a simple ceremony held on May 17, 2024 at 14:30 in the lecture hall where his name was given.
 
Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet ZAHMAKIRAN and Prof. Dr. Sevim ÇELİK, Secretary General of our University Prof. Dr. Selçuk GÜMÜŞ, Head of Personnel Department Turgay DELİALİOĞLU, Dean of our Faculty Prof. Dr. Metin SABAN, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Fatma ÜNAL, academic and administrative human resources of our Faculty and our faculty students attended the ceremony.

The presenter was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramazan ARSLAN, Vice Dean of our Faculty, and his assistant was Assoc. Assist. Tuba KOÇER, the opening program of the “DR. MEHMET SAID KÖSE AMFORY” started at 14:30 with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by İsmail KAYA, a lecturer from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, followed by a prayer by Assoc. Prof. Mehmet ERGÜN from the same faculty. A second prayer was made by Mustafa Abdurrahim, a student of the Department of International Trade and Logistics where our late teacher worked. After the recitation of the Qur'an and prayers, the message sent by Gülden ASLAN KÖSE, the wife of the late Said KÖSE, to be read in the program, was read by the Research Assistant of the Department of Business Administration. Assist. Ferhat DEMİRCİ, and his CV was read by the Assistant Professor of the Department of International Trade and Logistics. Assist. Tuba KOÇER read it. In the meantime, the photographs of the deceased covering his memories were projected on the screen through the presentation.

Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN, who was invited to the rostrum to make the last speech of the program, wished that the “DR. MEHMET SAID KÖSE AMFORY” would be auspicious. He stated that they welcomed the request to give the name of the deceased to the lecture hall, that they finalized this process in a very short time, and that they were happy with this, and thanked all the members of the board of directors who signed the decision to open the lecture hall and everyone who contributed. Stating that we are all saddened by the departure of our teacher, but he will always live among us with this lecture hall bearing his name, he said that Baki, who left his mark on Turkish literature with his poems;
 
“Let the echo of this 'world like Dâvûd
 
What remains is a pleasant sada in this dome”
 
Referring to his verses, he stated that he observed in this hall that our teacher also left behind a pleasant memory. Stating that our pain is still fresh, our Rector concluded his speech by wishing the deceased mercy from Allah and patience to his loved ones.     
 
After the commemorative speeches, the program was completed with a souvenir photo taken in front of the “DR.MEHMET SAID KÖSE AMPHASY” in memory of the day. 

The program continued with memory speeches. The first speech was delivered by the head of the International Trade and Logistics Department, Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Halil KARLI made the first speech. Karlı had to leave the rostrum before he could complete his speech by experiencing emotional moments at the beginning of his speech. As a reflection of the fact that this state language of our department head says more than his verbal language, an emotional atmosphere occurred in the hall. This atmosphere full of sadness in the hall also affected the sharing of many memories about our late professor by his friends. In addition, Sezai HANGİŞİ, the President of the Civil Society Organization, shared his memories of the deceased. After the sharing of memories, the program continued with the speech of Prof. Dr. Metin SABAN, Dean of our Faculty. In his speech, our Dean noted that the late Mehmet Said KÖSE has made significant contributions to our faculty since its establishment and that he has made significant efforts in the opening and development of the Department of International Trade and Logistics. He also stated that the deceased was a popular lecturer in our faculty and that those who filled the hall were also a witness of this. He thanked everyone who contributed to the naming of the lecture hall No. 2-10 in our faculty, especially the Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN and the relevant Administrative Boards, and wished the lecture hall to be beneficial and reiterated his condolences.
